Kanchenjunga, Sikkim, India Oct 3, 2010 posted by Uma
When I visited Gangtok in early March of 2008, a mist had covered the mountain peak for most of the day. There was a light drizzle and the sun was playing hide and seek with us.
Occasionally and only for a brief moment, the mist would clear to give a breathtaking view of Kanchenjunga, only to be gone all too soon.

I liked to zoom this to larger than screen size, and view it section by section - this way I could see the details of the contours of the mountain and at the same time get a feel of the enormity of it all. In 2002, I was in a group trying to reach Kangchenjunga base camp, but adverse weather deterred us. So for me, this painting seems to have captured the grandeur of the mountain with the looming uncertainities of its weather. -

Thank you, Sreenath.
Visiting the Himalayas is indeed an awe-inspiring and humbling experience.....the sheer majesty and beauty of it, leaves you feeling like a speck in the universe....
